Our History
The College of Islamic Sciences was founded in 2007 under the name Kurdistan College and was affiliated with the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs for the development of Imams and Preachers. At the time, the college was for boys to prepare and train them to become moderate preachers and give religious speeches that served the independent Kurdish cause.
Who We Are
In 2009, the college was transferred to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research at the University of Sulaimani and renamed the “College of Islamic Sciences,” with three departments: the Jurisprudence and its Principles, the Islamic Studies, and the Religious Principles departments. In 2015, the institutes of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs were permanently closed. Instead, a new department known as the Religious Education Department was formed. Currently, there are four main departments in the college.
