    In 2007, the College of Islamic Sciences was established, while the name of the college was Kurdistan College in the beginning. It initially operated under the auspices of the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs, with a specific focus on nurturing and developing Imams and Preachers. Originally catering exclusively to male students, the college's primary objective was to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to become moderate preachers capable of delivering religious speeches in support of the independent Kurdish cause.

All Departments of College of Islamic Science

The College of Islamic Sciences consists of four main departments, each of which has its own vision, methods, and programs that serve students in different fields. The following is a brief description of each department:

Principles of Religion

Focuses on the importance of Islamic sciences and introduces students to the original Islamic beliefs

Sharia

Concentrates on Islamic sciences and presents Islamic jurisprudence, principles of jurisprudence, and the sciences of Sharia to students

Islamic Studies

In addition to paying attention to Islamic sciences, it pays attention to general culture, Islamic thought, and the mastery of Arabic language.

Religious Education

Here, students are learning about Islamic sciences as well as the importance of education, ethics, and the beautiful values of Islam.

Today, Monday, 20/10/2025, at 10:00 AM, the respected dean of Islamic Sciences college Assist .Prof .Dr. Xalid Ahmad Mstafa  had a meeting with the delegation preparing for the upcoming visit between our college, the Ministry of Endowments, and the religious education institutions. The purpose of the  meeting was to discuss the arrangements and preparations for the special visit, which will be conducted in the near future with the cooperation of the relevant sides.

The Scientific Committee of the College of Islamic Sciences is holding a special workshop titled “New Approaches in Teaching Methods and the Art of Questioning”.

Today, Monday, November 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at the seminar hall of the College of Islamic Sciences, the committee is hosting a workshop for the college’s instructors under the title: “New Directions and the Role of Education in the Advancement and Development of Scientific Knowledge.”

The workshop is divided into two parts:

First Part: New Approaches in Teaching Methods, presented by Dr. Zia Habib and Dr. Bakhtiyar Najmadin.

Second Part: New Methods in Questioning Techniques, presented by Dr. Hussein Muhammad Ibrahim and Dr. Sardar Rashid.

At the end of the workshop, the instructors participated actively and contributed to enriching the workshop.

“The Department of Religious Education at the College of Islamic Sciences at University of Sulaimani organized a special workshop on guidelines for academic integrity.

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Department of Religious Education at the College of Islamic Sciences at University of Sulaimani made a special workshop on guidelines for academic integrity under the title:

‘Guidelines for Academic Integrity and their Impact on the Advancement of the Educational Process at the University.’

This workshop was presented by the instructors (Dr. Ismail Mohammed Jalal, Dr. Abdullah Qurbani Karam, Teacher Rezhan Mohammed Ali, and Assist. Teacher Shkar Osman Hamafraj). It is worth mentioning that a large number of the department’s faculty members and professors from the College of Islamic Sciences participated. At the end of the workshop, a full discussion took place with the participants, with feedback shared on the subject matter of the topics covered.

The Department of Sharia at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Sulaimani is organizing a special workshop on Educational Objectives and Methods.

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the Department of Sharia at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Sulaimani, is hosting a workshop under the title:

“Educational Goals and Methods, the Importance and Ways of Teaching Sharia Courses.”

The workshop will be presented by {Assist. Prof. Dr.  Mohammad Abdullah Ahmed} and {Assist. Prof. Dr. Akram Baiz Mohammad}. It is worth noting that many faculty members from the Sharia department and instructors from the College of Islamic Sciences participated in this event. At the end of the workshop, a thorough discussion took place with the participants, offering them further insights on the content of the topics discussed.
