Sharia

The duties of the department are to:

1. Motivate the students to love the science of Islamic jurisprudence and its related subjects.
2. Explain the relationship between Islamic science and other sciences.
3. Teach students to compare and contrast differences without harming any scholar’s personality.
4. Demonstrating human and scientific values in the graduates and reflecting them in their behavior.
5. Taking into account the university learning environment and exploiting it to strengthen social and cooperative relations within the departments and other areas.

By incorporating relevant instrumental and contemporary sciences, the Shari’a Department contributes to connecting the duality of authenticity and contemporary Islamic jurisprudence and Shari’ah sciences and opening a correct and appropriate way to understand Shari’ah texts.

The department’s missions are to spread science, Islamic enlightenment, and call for Islamic thought, in addition to actively participating and engaging with the community, in accordance with quality assurance and academic support.

Learning outcomes in the Sharia department are:

1. Educating a new generation of legal scholars and moderates.
2. Creating a favorable scientific environment for the development of Kurdish individuals and society.
3. Sharing with other universities and colleges research on Shari’ah and Islamic science according to the demands of the time.
4. Improving the abilities of individuals and positions in Kurdish society in order for them to obtain high qualifications to serve.

The Bologna Process is applied in the department for all stages.

The languages of the department are mainly Arabic and Kurdish. English is also used based on the language of the modules.

The duration of study at the department is 4 academic years, divided into 8 semesters.
